Teacher

Emily has been dancing for 14 years and has taken classes in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Lyrical, Modern, and Hip-Hop. Some of her favorite styles are Lyrical, Jazz, and Acrobatics. 

As part of her years of competing in the Solo Title for Dance Masters of Michigan, Emily has enjoyed the opportunity to meet new dancers from across the state and interview with judges from all over the country. Alongside being a member of the DWHS Competition team where she has competed in many solos, duets, trios, and group numbers, she has also competed in the Youth American Grand Prix which is widely known as the most prestigious ballet competition in the world. Some of Emily’s activities include:

• Member of Young Dancer Initiative, a pre-professional contemporary company in Ann Arbor (2020 – Present)

• Sugarplum Fairy (Lead Role); The Nutcracker Ballet

• Solo Title Competitor for Dance Masters of Michigan (3+ years)

• Member of the DWHS Competition Team (8+ years)

• Youth American Grand Prix Ballet Competitor (2x)

• Experienced assistant instructor in classes including: Grade 1 Ballet, Jazz 1/2, and Lyrical 1/2

• Attendee of multiple Summer Dance Intensives with The Grand Rapids Ballet, Cechetti Council of America, and Patterson School of Ballet

• Dance Masters of Michigan (DMM) spring & fall workshop attendee (8+ years)

• Ballet Grade 6 Student Certification from Cechetti Council of America (2021)

• 2021 National 1st Place Title for Lyrical Solo “I Am Not Alone” at On Point National Dance Competition

• Currently taking classes in preparation for her DMM Dance Education Certification

Emily is a senior at Lenawee Christian High School, where she is an elementary student aid and an officer in the National Honors Society.  Outside of the studio, Emily enjoys going to the lake, raising animals for 4-H, shopping, hanging out with friends, and travelling.
